Best Places to Eat Around Atlanta

This one’s originally by Chronicles of Nicole, and comes to us all the way from Sydney, Australia.

1. Add a direct link to your post below the name of the person who tagged you. Include the city/state and country you’re in.

(A thousand thanks to Fracas, who passed along the mysterious code!)

2. List out your top 5 favorite places to eat at your location.
I live Outside Atlanta, so if all these aren’t officially in the City Limits, at least they are within 45 minutes’ drive.
Frank’s, Palmetto. Some GREAT chef from Midtown “retired” but couldn’t give it up, and his fans still come down regularly from Buckhead. Frank’s may be stuck next to a little gas station, but once you are inside you see only the good decor and better food. The grilled pork chops are as tender as butter. Get there fast- since Coweta Fayette EMC HQ moved in across the way, the waiting line is bound to lengthen.

The New American Shakespeare Tavern, Atlanta, across from Crawford Long. www.shakespearetavern.com The food is an adventure- avocados, Italian olives, British seasonings. The appetizers are very good, and the hot apple crisp served during intermission is divine. But who really notices the food when those funny, funny plays are going on? Every Dress Rehearsal is only $10 per ticket! (food extra)

Red Robin, Newnan. www.redrobin.com We had a place like this in Orlando- happy staff, conversation-piece decor, good food. What would you like on your burger? Hint: Let your imagination run wild- tuna, pineapple, feta cheese, peanut butter… Get the Tower of Onion Rings to share with your family. Don’t be distracted by the TV in the bathroom. Or the one in the floor….

The Latin Zone, Newnan. www.cuisineofperu.com Peruvian food? Think seafood, Spanish and German influences. Think blue popcorn appetizers and blue pudding for dessert- get there early, they run out of blue pudding FAST! The Peruvians do things to colas that Big Brother Coca would frown at- until they tasted….

Fourth of July Church Picnic, Plant Wansley, GA. 100 of my favorite people, at least 50 of which are very good cooks, Wal-Mart provides the fried chicken, church provides the table settings, games, chatter, laughs, rides in “Uncle” Frank’s sidecar, prayer, babies, water balloons. Boy howdy! Ya’ll come on down!

3. Tag 5 Others

I hear from fracas, whom I believe, that this is worth tagging. Says fracas, “The originator, Chronicles of Nicole… takes the time to update a page where she maintains the list of all the participants, tells a bit about them, and categorizes them by country, making it truly, a great list to aid those who might be travelling. Woohoo Nicole. She also tracks how many of the tags from each participant, went on to particpate. What a gal! If for no reason other than she deserves support for her efforts, I’m tagging people. Before you decide not to do the meme, go to her site and see if that doesn’t change your mind about tagging 5 people too!

Sadly, I only know 4 folks to tag:
Hulles
Crazy Trace
Magistra Mater
Northern Girl

Go to it!

  1. fracas Says:

If you send me an email (fracas at canada dot com) I’ll send you one back with the html code for the list. You can edit the post with the new information and all the links will appear for you in your post… Nicole will then get a trackback and notice you took part and add your link to her list too!

It’s no trouble, I’ll just copy/paste it from my post and add yours at the end. Voila!

Thanks for taking part. I told Judy that at some point, Nicole’s list will be famous and your link will be on it. How cool is that?

  2. Rootietoot Says:

    Hey!

  3. JerseyChick Says:

    Rootie,
    Hey yourself!

You already got tagged for this meme, that’s why I claimed only knowing 4 people.

  4. Rootietoot Says:

That was a different meme…I’d be on the list if I’d been tagged! I’m wounded! *sob* fine then I’ll go sit and watch star trek.

  5. JerseyChick Says:

oh, make me jealous, whydoncha! 1st series, Next Generation, or Voyager?

    Tag!!

  6. Northern_Girl Says:

Oh – crap. As much as I like playing meme tag, this one I was hoping to avoid. Now I have to think – and – oh, ok. I’ll quit and just get on with it. Tomorrow.

    Thanks for the tag. :)

  7. Tracey Says:

oh dear.. thanks for thinking of me.. just don’t know I have the time right now to be figuring out how to do this one! And I don’t really get out much these days to be recommending any restaurants in the small city I live in… Will see how I go….

  8. Tracey Says:

(ie. I don’t understand the trackback thingy either…)

  9. fracas Says:

Hi Jersey Chick! You’re welcome for the code but something went wonky with the first entry and since it’s the gal who started the meme… you probably want to fix it so she’ll see your listing and add you to her directory!

The code sits currently as this:

    target=”_blank” href=”http://chroniclesofnicole.blogspot.com/2007/03/who-else-knows-food-better-than-locals.html”>Nicole (Sydney, Australia)

and I think if you change it to this: (only replace every [ with a < and every ] with a > because if I type it in with the pointy ones then it wouldn’t show up how you need to see it, it would just obey the code and be a link which won’t help you at all.

    [a target="new" href="http://chroniclesofnicole.blogspot.com/2007/03/who-else-knows-food-better-than-locals.html"]Nicole (Sydney, Australia)[/a]

Just copy/paste and then change those square brackets to the right pointy ones, and replace the part that isn’t working on your list.

If the same thing happened to rootie, just pass on this tidbit to her too.

  10. Nicole Tan Says:
