Hearing Loss

I am the only sane person in my county. And, if I could type correctly 100% of the time, I would run for county president. Instead, I will just take a vacation on the beach, thank you.

It is astounding to listen to people not think. Even when they read simple sentences aloud, they claim ideas within those writings that do not exist. Haven’t they learned from the Russians that the written word can be used against idiocy?

It is also astounding to listen to people trying to learn a foreign language and then spouting bigotry about “foreigners”. In the interest of opening a nuclear reactor, let me air an opinion: it is impossible to tell how many illegal immigrants there are in the United States. Therefore, it is impossible to make blanket statistical statements about illegal immigrants in the US. I.e., my uncle claims “they” all get welfare and use the money to buy sportscars. A friend of mine believes that the only change in a nearby county that can be attributed to a rise in illegal immigration is exactly the number of new foreign restaurants.

Why do people open their mouths and spout off about things of which they are so obviously ignorant? Why do people proud of their reputations as do-gooders, positive thinkers, or encouragers allow discrimination, slander, and other forms of hatred exit their mouths? This benefits neither the society in general, the audience, nor the speaker.

I shall repeat here what I have opined to many: English is a weak language. Americans are using it less effectively, and producing weaker thinking in a downward spiral that will, within 30 years, turn her citizenry into little better than brute beasts. I strongly recommend (are you listening, Bill Gates?) a required 4-6 years of Latin and Logic within the US elementary and high school system.

Anchors and Flotsam

Wow, ran into a friend of mine who’s wondering what life is all about. Sounded like an old Bob Dylan song: when I started this job, I didn’t think it was gonna be like this. Tried to give her a lift, but I’m not sure it took. Probably should call her in a couple of days, see how it’s going, but who’s got the time? I’m glad she was honest, though. I know how she feels, been there myself a lot.

My flaky sister emailled, and at age 44 is still riding the emotional rollercoaster, flaming about an art colony she wants to join. Last month it was Benny Hinn School for the Rich Wanna-Bes. I love her a lot and it’s not that emotions are garbage, but at 44 the blood is cool, no reason to lose a life because you can’t control your mouth. What looks cute on a 20 year old looks foolish on me. I’m glad she was honest, though. I know how she feels, been there myself a lot, long ago.

My man still talking about going back to Europe in the spring, have a nice flight, dude, I’ll wave from my hotel room in D.C., wonder where you’ll be sleeping when you get back? His hours cut back at the grind, but ACH still works, so Caio, baby.

Got a nice note from my posse, “WDWAV”, We Desperately Want A Vacation”. Me, too. Love the posse, sweet and solid, we groove better than I ever could’ve dreamed. Time is a friend today.

A Million Bucks

What would you do if someone handed you a million bucks, tax-free? How you respond tells a lot about what kind of person you are, of course. I’ve been fantasizing for two weeks about a vacation to the Caribbean- not that it would cost $1 million, but obviously I want a break from the same old, same old.

I’m the kind of person who likes the idea of travel to exotic places, although I know if I lived in Siberia my home here would seem exotic, so what’s the point?

Went to see “The Prestige”. Stupid title, OK entertainment. Hollywood is remaking so many plots it’s more entertaining to try to figure out which one this is. (Anybody besides me notice “Over the Hedge” and “Cars” had the same plot?) Previews (Babel, The Fountain, Apolocypto, Stranger than Fiction) tell me Hollywood is selling Surrealism, thank you Matrix.

Rebel that I am, a quest for meaning within the daily grind begins. Hollywood has always been behind the wave, I want to do better than that.
